On 7th July we conducted a training session for several of our members on the process of restocking the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance. This training covered the collection and delivery of the product along with the documentation process. The members were also informed of the safety procedures required on an active airfield. On Sunday 9th April we at SERV – Surrey & South London carried out our annual Easter Egg Run to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. Around 18 members rode in convoy through the streets of London on the hottest day of the year so far. Our Citroen DS3, sponsored by Charters Citroen Aldershot along with a car from NHSBT who also donated a boot full of chocolate, carried the brunt of the eggs following at the rear. Today saw the presentation of three motorbikes to SERV Surrey and South London by the Provincial Grand Lodge of Mark Masters Masons in London today in a ceremony at the Mark Masons’ Hall in Central London. Chairman Hugh Terry and SERV S&SL riders Jon Fautley, Ray Semmens, Ian Price and Phil Rawcliffe all attended the handover this afternoon where the Yamaha FJR1300 and two Triumph Tiger 800s were handed over by David Ashbolt, Provincial Grand Master .....read more.
Members of SERV – Surrey & South London got together on Thursday to take part in a SERV Christmas social ride, led by member Bob Cooper. The weather was a bit on the chilly side at around freezing with frost visible in many places, however the sun made an appearance, helping to defrost most of the route. The run finished up with a warm meal and soft drinks at the pub. Plans are underway to run the same route in the summer when the weather is a bit .....read more.
Today SERV Surrey and South London were delighted to visit some of the children at Evelina’s Children’s Hospital on our annual toy run. All the children enjoyed meeting our volunteers, sitting on the bikes and receiving gifts donated by our volunteers and Guildford Chantries Rotary Club. Blues and rock band, RedDog, is returning to the Eagle Ale House in December! Appearing on Saturday 17th December, the band will be playing their own brand of blues rock covers with the aim of not only giving everyone a great time, but also raising money for SERV S&SL. For the past few years, SERV Surrey and South London have entered a team into the annual Woking Rotary Club swimathon. This year is no different, once again several of our members will be switching their motorbikes for swimsuits and attempting to complete the maximum number of pool lengths in 55 minutes. Last year, the team of four swimmers managed 102 lengths, an average of 25.5 lengths each! They’re hoping to beat that figure this year! The team .....read more.
