Towards the end of 2015, plans were announced to consolidate the two operational bases of Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance on to one site at Old Hay Airfield, Paddock Wood Kent. This week, it has been announced by KSSAA that these plans have been scrapped following an opportunity to expand further at Redhill Aerodrome.
As part of the expansion, KSSAA’s partner, Specialist Aviation Services (SAS), who maintain and repair the aircraft will relocate from Gloucestershire to Redhill so an engineer will be on site and enabling servicing & repairs to the aircraft to be carried out more quickly.
The Kent KSSAA base at Marden will remain their HQ and fundraising base.
SERV Surrey & South London look forward to continuing to work with KSSAA for the foreseeable future providing their nightly scheduled and daytime emergency ad-hoc blood restock.
