October 2014 Air Ambulance Update

The latest stats are in from Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, and to date, 129 transfusions have been carried out, 69 of these in 2014 so far.

Since February 2013, volunteer riders and drivers for SERV Surrey & South London have been restocking Kent Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance at their Redhill base enabling them to carry out lifesaving transfusions at the scene. Our volunteers provide 24hr/365 days a year cover to the KSSAA with daily stock rotation runs and additional ad-hoc deliveries should the need arise.

Of the two KSSAA Air Ambulances, only the Redhill based aircraft currenly flies at night, the other, based at Marden in Kent flies during daylight hours only & is restocked by our colleagues from SERV Kent. 86 of the 129 patients who’ve recieved blood have done so via East Surrey Hospital and SERV Surrey & South London; none of this would be possible without the continued support, dedication and commitment of our volunteer riders and drivers.
