The Bad Weather Won’t Stop Us

Although we mainly do our deliveries on motorbikes, when it gets below 3°C, the bikes are grounded. And regardless of the “Beast from the east” or “Storm Emma”, there’s still a demand for our free service. Enter the cars! From our regular resupply runs to Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, and meeting urgent clinical demand from our subscribed NHS hospitals, to our transfers from the Blood Bank to our sister organisations at SERV Kent – Bloodrunners and SERV Sussex… SERV SSL volunteers are out night and day, in all weathers, making sure demand is met. This also includes volunteers using their own 4×4’s and thanks to Charters Citroen Aldershot who have supplied and sponsored our Citroen DS3 free of charge.

As a 224 time blood donor out here in “The Colonies”,where ice and snow are what makes us Canadians,I applaud your efforts to get the blood products out. Sometimes I come into Toronto by train, but usually I travel by car every 2 weeks to give PLATELET donations. Our regs. Changed a while ago,so that now instead of having to stop at age 71 I can give until I die. Hopefully I can reach the 300 level within a year or two. Keep up the great work of saving lives Over ‘Ome.

Thank you for your kind words. Also well done for all your donations and I’m sure you will make your target. Make sure you keep some for yourself!

Saving lives is big for me. Being a diabetic Type II and being allowed to continue giving platelets #228 yesterday is important. Thank you for the great work you continue to do. By the way 3 degrees C is almost a heat wave out here. LOL
